Raising A Toast To Bollywoods Single Moms!

A mother is easily the most inspirational person in one’s life. From teaching you your first words to shaping your future – your mother is there with you, every step of the way. Today, we celebrate Bollywood’s single moms who have raised their children on their own and displayed immense fortitude.

Karisma Kapoor

Karisma Kapoor’s marriage to business tycoon Sanjay Kapur was far from hunky dory right from the start. The estranged couple has two kids, Samaira and Kiaan Raj. Karisma always maintains that her kids are her first priority and prides herself on being a hands-on mother.

Chitrangada Singh

Chitrangada Singh was married to golfer Jyoti Singh Randhawa and has a son, Zorawar. After years of speculation around their troubled marriage, they formally got divorced in April last year. While Chitrangada is pursuing her filmy career, she also takes care of Zorawar to the best of her abilities.

Sushmita Sen

The former Miss Universe may not have made it big in movies but when it comes to celebrating motherhood, Sushmita Sen is a source of inspiration. The actress has adopted two girls, Renee and Alisah. And must say, the three make for a picture-perfect family.

Amrita Singh

Amrita Singh has two beautiful children, Sara and Ibrahim from her marriage to Saif Ali Khan. Following their divorce in 2004, she has been raising the two kids. While Sara and Ibrahim maintain a healthy relationship with Saif, they are closer to their mother.

Sarika

Sarika and Kamal Hassan were in a live-in relationship for years and tied the knot only after their second daughter was born. After their divorce, she took up the responsibility of their daughters, Shruti and Akshara. While Shruti joined Bollywood in 2009, Akshara made her foray earlier this year.

Babita

Babita was a prominent actress in her heydays. But she walked away from the world of films to marry Raj Kapoor’s eldest child, Randhir Kapoor. After their bitter separation, she single-handedly raised Karisma and Kareena, and was instrumental in their joining Bollywood. Sure enough, the two became successful heroines in their own right.

Honey Irani

Farhan and Zoya Akhtar have made a place for themselves in the industry today. Their mother Honey Irani has a big role to play in their success. When Javed Akhtar and Honey parted ways, she took it upon herself to raise the kids. She took to embroidering sarees to earn extra income and support her children before getting a break as a scriptwriter.

Neelima Azeem

Neelima Azeem married Pankaj Kapur in 1975 and their marriage lasted nine years. Following their divorce, she won custody of their son, Shahid Kapoor. Sasha not only dotes on her but also on his stepbrother Ishaan Khattar.

Pooja Bedi

Pooja parted ways with her husband Farhan Ebrahim Furniturewala after 8 years of marriage. Since then, she has been a single mother to Alia and Omar.

SpotboyE wishes all the wonderful mothers of the world a very #HappyMothersDay!
